FAST Teams Compete in FCA Flag Football Tourney

FAST fielded teams ranging from 8 years old to 12 years on Sunday to compete in the 3rd Annual FCA Flag Football Tournament. The tournament is a fund raiser for the local FCA at UNCW and had divisions for each age from 8 to 13. Matt Durand coached the 8 year old team to a 3rd place finish in a very physical division. Nat Criss and Kirk Angel coached FAST 2 and FAST 3, two 9 year old teams to a combined record of 5 wins and 1 tie with FAST 2 taking the title and FAST 3 narrowly missing 2nd place due to point differential tie break. Our 10 year old team, coached by Rob Morgan, compiled a record of 2 wins and 1 loss. They didn't place but played extremely well. The only two FAST teams to have to play each other all weekend were the two 12 year old teams coached by Mike Young (FAST 1) and John Culotta (FAST 6). FAST 1 pulled off a close win and eventually tied for 1st place in the division with a record of 2 wins and 1 tie. FAST 6 finished with a record of 2-1 with dominating wins over the other teams they played.

Overall, FAST played extremely well. But that is not what I am most proud of. The players, coaches and parents conducted themselves in a positive, respectful and friendly manner all weekend. They exhibited the values that we try to teach our kids at FAST. I couldn't have been more proud.
